I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Lawrence Fourie on two construction projects thus far and am pleased to write this letter of recommendation after my experience working with him.
The first project we completed was while Lawrence was under the employment of Stefanutti Stocks and entailed the construction of a new 600m2 airline lounge in the International Departures Terminal at Cape Town International Airport. The project was architecturally simple, but highly complex in its execution. The entire construction was staged within a fully functioning airport environment and entailed phased enablement works that had to cater to the airport’s day to day operations including both staff and passengers. Large 1m deep structural steel members had to be installed around exposed bulk tech services that serve as the I.T backbone of the existing terminal.
When problems arose on site Lawrence always arrived to the discussion with a potential solution in hand and demonstrated his eagerness to collaborate with the professional team when the project was met with logistical and technical challenges, in addition to catering to a large list of demanding operational site requirements from the client.
The second project we worked on was my personal residence with Lawrence working independently as LMF Construction. The scope of the project was to split an existing 5-bedroom house into two 3- and 4-bedroom units respectively. This project, although small in scale, came with its own challenges due to the high level of construction accuracy and workmanship required to execute the design successfully. In this project, Lawrence showcased his shared investment in crafting a final product all would be proud of by actively supporting and enforcing the quality control of the project.
Through both projects described above, Lawrence has always presented himself in a friendly, approachable, and optimistic manner day-to-day operations, while also keeping a reasonable and respective mindset when conducting difficult yet necessary conversations. It is due to these personal and professional qualities, and our collaborative working relationship, that I would happily work with Lawrence again in the future.
